Nature & Yoga
•The RI.Perspective
Nature & Yoga Retreat grows out of the vision of Francesca Grillo, a Hatha Yoga and Yoga Nidra teacher who sees yoga as a path of personal and spiritual inquiry. For her, practising is a way to step back from what we tend to identify with, the body, mind, emotions and conditioning, and live with greater serenity and awareness.
Few techniques, asana, pranayama, kriya and relaxation, little control, deep listening: every evening at sunset, a two-hour session works with the body and breath, leading towards stillness and meditation. From inner exploration, the focus moves outward: the days follow the rhythms of the place, among beaches and coral reefs, with snorkelling, diving and excursions to uninhabited islands, allowing participants to experience the sea and nature up close, alongside an evening dedicated to marine biology.
The retreat takes place on Feridhoo, in Alif Alif Atoll, with accommodation at Villa Rosa, a guesthouse surrounded by vegetation and with the reef accessible from the beach. Here, the island’s silence and a practice built on doing less invite a recognition of what habit and distraction often conceal in everyday life, opening the possibility of carrying yoga beyond technique, as an attitude towards life.
