Il tempo delle foglie
•The RI.Perspective
“Il tempo delle foglie” is a literary retreat, a project by Materia Talk and Talea/Gylda, led by author Marta Perego at Case Zucchi, an organic agriturismo converted from an old farmhouse in the Piacenza countryside. Inspired by her book “Colazione al parco con Virginia Woolf”, it grows out of the idea that the works and lives of women writers can offer a fresh perspective on our own.
Marta draws on the biographies of Virginia Woolf, Simone de Beauvoir, Natalia Ginzburg and Sylvia Plath to give participants the chance to talk about themselves: the need for a space of one’s own, what remains when life takes a different path, and the way choices and desires shift over time. The exchange continues with a question game, in which cards are drawn on themes from Marta’s book, and with a brief introduction of a personal title each guest feels attached to.
These moments are joined by silent, screen-free reading and a slow walk through the surrounding countryside, conceived, too, as an act of independence that gives thought room to breathe.
Throughout the weekend, everyone carries their Autumn Notebook, gathering quotations, notes and fragments of conversation. After a Socratic dialogue on what is worth keeping, each person lists what they are ready to let go of and what they want to hold on to in their daily lives. Autumn, the season when nature sheds the superfluous, is the thread running through the whole experience.
