Ocean, Horses & Yoga
•The RI.Perspective
Ocean, Horses and Yoga stems from the vision of Sonia Frydrych, a yoga teacher, photographer and retreat organiser, who brings yoga and horse riding together over one week in Sidi Kaouki, on Morocco’s Atlantic coast.
At Villa d’Oiseaux, a stone house surrounded by fields and argan trees, morning yoga involves work on the body and spinal mobility, preparing participants for horse riding and their relationship with the horse. From the saddle, the group crosses beaches, dunes and eucalyptus forests, leading into a day devoted to the horses along the coast: bathing with them in the Atlantic, riding bareback along the shoreline and setting out again at sunset, as a way of experiencing the land and nature at close range. In the evening, Sonia leads breathwork and meditation to release tension and return to a quieter state.
An experience in which yoga and horse riding both centre on balance and bodily awareness, encouraging greater precision and confidence in movement, alongside the memory of a landscape crossed slowly.
