Mythos October

•The RI.Perspective
Mythos grew out of the collaboration between Dominique Sire, an artist and teacher who has spent over thirty-five years working on the relationship between the body and inner life, helping people address fears and resistance that limit expression, and Carlotta Mastrojanni, a writer, filmmaker and author of The Magdalene Book of Fire, who has taught Psychosensual Attunement for more than a decade.

The retreat is for actors, writers, directors, dancers and storytellers and is rooted in acting and narrative, placing the individual and their emotional experience at its centre. Partner work, repetition exercises and improvisation engage the senses and imagination, so that the body can become an instrument for exploring the innermost self: what is not fully recognised and what is felt but not shown. The aim is to develop greater command of one’s impulses and, at the same time, the ability to let go, in creative practice as in everyday life.

The retreat is held at Villa Lena, a nineteenth-century estate on a Tuscan hill, spanning five hundred hectares of woodland and fields. It also serves as an artists’ residence, offering a setting in keeping with the Mythos approach.
